The Egyptians called the Nile "the Sea." The ship
replaced the chariot. In a symbolic tradition, the vessel transported
heavenly bodies, especially the sun. Ancient Egyptian petroglyphs show the evolution of their boats that floated the Nile that created the rhythm of life. The annual rising of the waters set the calendar of three seasons: inundation, growth, and harvest. |
